Turning a corner on the highway of my life…
Why is it that certain people only fit into a particular era of my life? When they leave they take with them that certain slot of time allotted to them. Having no regrets, I avoid the cul de sac ahead and take no u-turns. It’s then that I turn a corner on the highway of my life. I’m grateful for the memories and look forward to new experiences along the way. ~PMCBurkey 2015
Have you ever experienced an ‘abandonment to God’ ?
I get a taste of it when tubing on the river. Alone, adrift…letting the current take me to its destination…trusting the water’s pull.
Noah experienced this same ‘abandonment to God’. He had obeyed God, and God shut the door. Noah was left without a rudder, and with only God to steer his ark.
“I am God, your God, who teaches you how to live right and well. I show you what to do, where to go. If you had listened all along to what I told you, your life would have flowed full like a river…” Isaiah 48:17b-18a from ‘The Message’
A full, flowing river does not necessarily mean calm waters. Whether we go through life calmly or roughly, depends on His will for us. Remember, He goes through it with us. May we be so abandoned to Him.
Psalm 46:1-5…”God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear…even though its waters roar and be troubled. There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.”
“But there the majestic LORD will be for us a place of broad rivers and streams, in which no galley with oars will sail, nor majestic ships pass by.” Isaiah 33:21
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you…” Isaiah 43:2a
