Military, Me?

I wanted to go to Viet Nam…
not to be a ham,
nor be on the lam.
But, “Yes Ma’am!
I wanted to go to Viet Nam!
But what I saw state-side
did not hide
the facts…Left me wide-eyed!
The irony
of my hospital duty…
the birth of a new baby,
what was left of a soldier’s body.
We’re seeing the last of a holocaust survivor…
Some will see Nam’s, Iraq’s, more?
What for?
Never forget what went before…
the pride of the Corps,
the Navy on shore,
the flight of the Air Force…
Their love of freedom,
for others bought freedom.
Keep singing, America!
and let it ring out…
Freedom…
is what it’s all about!

Good Friday Earthquake

We’re coming up on Good Friday. What is your understanding of the events of that first century Friday when Christ died?
Here’s something to consider…

“The Good Friday Earthquake”
Remember how the rocks rent, and  the graves of many ‘saints’ were opened? This shows us that the death of Jesus Christ conquered our last enemy, death. Of course the bodies of those saints only revived. Like Lazarus, they needed the stones rolled away in order to come out. They did not have their resurrection bodies yet. If they did, they would have been able to pass through the closure, like Christ did with his resurrection body.
The revival on the first Good Friday was the figurative illustration of the proof that death will not hold us in the grave. Thank you, Jesus!

Righteous Judgment

“Righteous Judgment”

Sin caught early may break a destructive pattern…

I was just 17, newly licensed, and was out driving with a couple friends. In town, speed was 25 mph, but I was going faster than that and was busy talking with my friends while driving. Policeman pulled me over and asked for my license. Noting I was a new driver, he let me go with a warning to pay attention to my speed. Believe me I was scared, appreciated his kindness, and breathed easy knowing it could have been much worse…a stiff fine & court appearance, or even an accident with injuries! That policeman judged rightly with mercy. To this day I’m cautious of speed and know the limits for a safer drive to stay alive!

God judges righteously also whether it be justice meted out by penalty, or mercy by pardon.
